Title The three fire departments of Breckenridge (Colo.)--1900s
Description Members of the three fire departments of Breckenridge, Colorado (Pioneer Hook and Ladder, Blue River Hose, Independent Hose) pose in their dress uniforms, including conductor's caps with metal badges, dark pants, wide belts with edges bound in white leather and pullover bib shirts. Their shirts have buttoned chest protectors, with herald shaped patches sewn onto them, and corresponding patches on the forearms. The patches have sprig patterns in the shape of an "H". All have wide, quilted lapels and similar quilting on their forearms; a leg- seam ribbon shows on some of the men's pants. The men identified are: far left is Chester Detwiler (next to the burro) and the man to his right is Harry Detwiler. Carl Phillips stands in the back row, center. A plank roofed log cabin and evergreens are in the background.
